Philip Glass - Overture via Beauty and the Beast (1946, dir. Jean Cocteau)

oldhollywood:

The original score for Beauty and the Beast was written by Georges Auric, however, in 1995, Philip Glass composed an opera designed to be performed while the film is projected without sound (the vocals of the opera are in sync with the lips of the actors onscreen). The Criterion Collection DVD release of Beauty and the Beast includes the opera and the option for viewers to watch the film this way.
